The work
Kestrel Lane adds a new three-storey teaching block, a sports hall and a reconfigured public realm to an oversubscribed secondary school. The whole programme was sequenced around the academic calendar, with the noisiest and heaviest work pushed into holidays and the pupils never decanted off site.
The teaching block uses a hybrid structure — a concrete stair and lift core for stability, steel floors for long clear spans, and a prefabricated envelope craned in as sealed cassettes. Segregated pedestrian routes kept 900 pupils and site traffic fully apart throughout.
A rebuilt frontage and hard landscaping give the school a calmer, safer arrival off a busy road.
